I Just received a letter from the attorney to this affect: The court process for granting the final distribution is faster and easier if we submit the petition without a formal accounting. In that regard, enclosed please find a Waiver of Account.
My question is what is this and what would I gain or lose by signing it?

This forum is for estate planning professionals. However, I will answer this question partially - you should get a more complete answer from your attorney.

The account that the attorney refers to is a detail listing of every transaction that occured during the administration of an estate or trust up until the final distribution. It can be expensive but beneficiaries are entitled to know what goes on.

When it comes to giving up rights, etc - that's a conversation you need to have with the attorney.
