Dear Lacerte Customer:

California has reconsidered their position on filing the CA Form ET-1. For decedents that die on or after January 1, 2005, there is no longer a requirement to file a California Estate Return. Please see their website for more details http://www.sco.ca.gov/col/taxinfo/estate/index.shtml We apologize for the inconsistent emails on this topic. It is important to us to provide timely, accurate information. In providing prompt information, sometimes the information can change. California will be removed from the 2005 Estate tax program.

Sincerely,

Lacerte Software
