Thanks again Mary Kay. One follow up question if you don't mind:

The wife's projected benefits from her credits are about 47% of the husband. Since the husband has a "consulting agreement" for $14,400/year until he turns 66, I was thinking she could claim early benefits on her own and he might want to wait until his excess earnings are minimal. Then when he claims benefits she could change her benefit payout to 50% of his, right?

Since they are a year+ away from claiming benefits, I will send them to SS a few months early to reevaluate.
