Specific bequests do not tack out DNI, so no income to that recipient. Other recipients do receive DNI, to the extent of their distribution or DNI, if DNI is less than the value of the assets distributed. To offset some of that income, if the estate was taxable, there might be an IRD deduction, for Federal purposes, for estate taxes paid on the IRA.
